But God is good. He gave me a glimpse of a boy on his dad's shoulders. Really, I thought? Not the typical Christmas scene, but I had it loud and clear. Yet, I still was second guessing the image and decided to peruse the internet for proper son on shoulders posture... never to find it. The images were forward facing and really not it; but what was interesting was that in the google search there was a painting of the Nativity. So what does this have to do with son on shoulders? And then the missing puzzle piece fell into place as I recalled this verse:
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
This was written well before the time of Jesus. This prophesy was indeed fulfilled. Kind of neat to think about it. ...And here we are in modern times and I am wondering about the awe of the moment proclaimed in Isaiah; even more so the awe of that holy night. Can we experience anything close to this? Maybe you have. Maybe someone took the time to point you to Jesus. That's what Christmas is all about (Charlie Brown).
Christmas is coming. We have opportunity to experience this awe, to share it with others. Know Jesus and point others to him. If you have a young child it is so fun to have a visit with Santa, the shopping, the cookies, the tree... but somewhere in the season, go out and look at the stars. Talk about that night in the stable over 2000 years ago. Show him Jesus.
Blessings on your day and this upcoming Christmas season!
