You never know what you might find when you tear out old carpeting. I thought it would be fabulous to restore the old house to it's original state, including refinishing the hardwood floors. I can remember as a five year old "ice skating" across these floors in my socks one day, and twirling about as a ballerina on stage the next. And I remember the hand hooked rugs my icy feet found each morning beside my bed. So up came the tired old carpet- and surprise... I found plywood patching. Yikes. Nothing is ever easy. Well, after pulling out what seems like a million of these carpet tacks, feeling tired, defeated and covered in dirt, I brought in the A-team, to "finish the job". The guys at Nicholas Hardwood, really know wood. They were able to patch the downstairs hall- and are now working on the stairs and the landing. Unfortunately matching the upstairs bedroom wood was impossible. So for now, these will be carpeted- probably better for the cold morning feet- at least that is how I'm consoling myself! I can't wait to show you the finished floors. Who knows, maybe I'll even skate across!
