A bit of history: This house was built in the 1930's as one of the original tracts of homes in Corona del Mar. My Great Aunts Dora and Alma purchased the home at this time, never lived in it, but kept it as a vacation home, lending it to friends and family over the years. So, for as long as I can remember, I have been spending glorious weeks each Summer in this seaside cottage. The house was left to my mom and her sisters and then became ours sometime in the late 1970's. At one point, my parents wanted to sell the house. They put a 'for sale by owner' sign in the window along with a ridiculously low price tag. This somewhat stubborn daughter happened to be attending Laguna Beach School of Art at the time, commuting from West Covina and then spending two nights at the beach house before heading home. I was in love with the house and couldn't imagine never being able to stay there again- so what's a girl to do? Confession time. Each week I removed the for sale sign from the window. My parents couldn't understand why there was no interest in the house, but before they knew it the 1980's housing boom hit- and the family was grateful to have held on to this property. I have shared this spot with my four brothers over the years and as families grow and lives change, I found the house at a similar crossroads yet again. Ever stubborn, and still attached to this blessed place, I am holding on and turning it into my dream business.
