Concerning the Spiritual in Art Workshop
2-days | Hybrid
What would happen if you combined all of the best parts of book club, retreat and art making in a two-day workshop—something beautiful! Come prepared for an online discussion time of Kandinsky’s Concerning the Spiritual in Art. After lecture/ discussion on concepts of abstract and expression and the language of color, we will brainstorm ways to apply Kandinsky’s wisdom to our own art practices.

Encaustic Workshop
2-Days | 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Encaustic—that elusive mysterious medium centuries old and making a big comeback. Have you been wanting to know the ins and outs of using a hot melted wax and blow torches to create ethereal works of art? Join this two-day workshop where you will have the opportunity to use all of the tools to create your own unique art.

Intro to Silverpoint Workshop
Have you been curious about this centuries old drawing medium? Or perhaps you’ve never heard of it. Silverpoint is a way of drawing before there were pencils. The prepared surface grabs particles of metal from the stylus to create shimmering marks that build up gradually for exquisite gems of art that play with the light.

Summer Sketchbook Workshop
What a perfect way to kick off the summer! Come into the studio for an all-day workshop where we will handcraft our own custom sketchbooks and then learn some strategies and techniques for filling them with whatever summer adventures await.
Expressive Portraits Course
Tuesdays | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | 6 weeks
Expressive Portraits is not your typical portrait class. We are not learning proper facial proportions or painting techniques, but rather delving into our own selves and emotions, exploring a variety of ways to express this in paint and dry media.
Beginning Watercolor Course (Free through Saddleback)
Thursdays | 9 AM – 12:00 PM | 8 weeks | Online, Asynchronous
In this course we will dive into the fundamentals of watercolor painting, including color theory, mixing colors, and creating different washes. You’ll learn how to create different textures and effects, such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have dabbled in watercolor before, this is a great way to practice and refine your watercolor technique!

Plein Air Course (Free through Saddleback)
Saturdays | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | 8 weeks | Hybrid
Get ready to take your art outdoors! In this hybrid plein air course, we will be heading into nature every Saturday to capture its beauty on the canvas. You will learn the basics of composition, color, and light. Bring your own supplies, and Renee will offer guidance with whichever medium you choose. So grab your paintbrushes, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure, and let’s get painting!
